"Just an Old Sweet Song, Keeps Georgia on My Mind..."

Picture
Sarah VanFossen was born and raised in Atlanta, GA and is the oldest of four children. She discovered her love of music at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church where she began singing in the choir and learning to play the piano. Along with singing, Sarah has always enjoyed dancing, swimming, and softball (she will always be a die hard Braves fan!). In high school, she realized her true love of the stage as a freshmen in Les Miserables and continued performing in other shows like Peter Pan, CHICAGO, Lie of the Mind, and 42nd Street. Sarah was selected to attend the Georgia Governor's Honors Program in 2006 as a Theatre Major, and received extensive training in Suzuki Method, Viewpoints, and clown work.

Sarah truly enjoyed high school, and graduated 4th in her class in 2007. Deciding to follow her more academic pursuits, Sarah enrolled in Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. There, she was a Tour Guide and appeared as a Tribe Member in HAIR, and Calpurnia in Julius Caesar. In the summer of 2008, Sarah worked as a performer and box office manager for The New London Barn Playhouse. She thrived in the fast-paced, high stakes environment at The Barn, and decided to pursue Musical Theatre more seriously, which lead her to Raphe Crystal and the University of Alabama Musical Theatre department. Sarah loves cheering, "Roll Tide Roll!" at football games, being the Music Chair of her sorority Alpha Delta Pi, walking her chihuahua-beagle mix Lucy, learning Japanese, and counting money as the Treasurer of the Gamma Gamma Cast of Alpha Psi Omega Theatre Honor Society. In the Spring of 2010, Sarah joined forces with APO, ADPi, and the Women's Resource Center to direct and fully produce Uncommon Women and Others by Wendy Wasserstein. Last fall, Sarah was also the Artistic Director of a student production of Almost, Maine.
